When Rodimus Void first arose inside of Unicron, Sideways selected the commander of the Aerialbots, Silverbolt, as the base material from which to forge the Void's second-in-command. What came out of the Chamber of Reformation was a dark jet that wore Silverbolt's face but could not be physically mistaken for the Aerialbot commander.
Even fresh from reformatting, Jetstorm wasn't entirely sane. Creating a servant of Unicron from such a devoted Autobot left a few mental instabilities in there that just grew over time. The chaos energy infusing him kept him stable and focused on his mission, so only he lost himself a few times during his service to Void.
Jetstorm wanted to protect his brothers from his own fate and with the subtle guiding of Sideways, he learned some very nasty chaos-spells. He then hunted down and decapitated each of his brothers in turn and bound their still-living heads to his wings.
Motormaster and Silverbolt had a enemies-with-benefits relationship before Silverbolt's reformatting. Since that time, Jetstorm fell in love with the grey truck, though it's not entirely certain how Motormaster feels about this.
Jetstorm served Void dutifully as his second-in-command and consigned worlds to Unicron. The Decepticons and Autobots stood against the Void, but there seemed to be no hope for them at all.
After an incident where Jetstorm believes he murdered his lover, the Void and his ship somehow wound up in the Nexus, and then came the Void Saga.
Currently, Jetstorm has been drained of chaos energy and freed from his enslavement to Unicron. He seems to have lost some of his power, mostly that which went outside of his physical specs. He is staying at Autobot City for now, and it's hoped that sometime in the very near future, Ratchet and First Aid will build some new bodies for his brothers.
The priestess Auspex is trying to work with him to heal he and his brothers' minds.
Weapons and Abilities
Jetstorm flies all the time. If he's not out-and-out flying, he prefers to hover above the ground and air-skate to get around. This does not seem to have an appreciable drain on his power.
He carries an electroshock rifle, as well as being able to toss lightning bolts out of his hands. In spacejet-mode, he can also generate and unleash lightning through his nosecone.
He is insanely tough, capable of fighting Motormaster with his forcefields up and walking away. (Motormaster did not walk away from that encounter.) Someone, presumably Sideways, describes him as being built to take on Galvatron.
Jetstorm has claimed to be able to crack a planet, but there's been no demonstration of this. Thankfully.
He also can tune his optics to a frequency that seems to let him see into the spirit world, though he doesn't term it as such.
He has demonstrated an ability to 'still' the air, to literally stop the wind. This often appears as a dome-effect when he's out in the open, and can lead to ventilators failing when he's inside. It can be activated both consciously and unconsciously, but it is never on without him noticing it.
Any other weapons and abilities are currently unknown.
Weaknesses
Jetstorm has no known physical weaknesses. Pulling his brothers' heads off makes him very angry, and they do seem to be not as sturdy as he is... But given that he berserks when people threaten his brothers, it's probably a bad idea to kill them.
Mentally, Jetstorm has been described as "stable but nowhere near sane".
